Creation Declares the Glory of God
Yesterday I left the office at sunset. And what an incredible sunset it was! The colours were so vibrant, and the texture of the clouds added bands of shadow in contrast. My whole being was filled with joy at the sight!
Here is a photo that I took with my cellphone, which doesn’t do the scene justice at all. But it gives you an idea at least.
God could have created a perfectly functional, life-sustaining world that looked absolutely boring. But it is not in His nature to hold back on giving us good things – He created an incredibly beautiful planet for us to live on!
Psalms 19:1 (WEBBE):
1The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
Job 12:7-10 (WEBBE):
7“But ask the animals, now, and they will teach you;
the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
8Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you.
The fish of the sea will declare to you.
9Who doesn’t know that in all these,
The LORD’s hand has done this,
10in whose hand is the life of every living thing,
and the breath of all mankind?
All of creation reminds us of the glory of God. The beauty is there all the time, but we will miss it if we don’t pay attention!
Psalms 8:3-4 (WEBBE):
3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained;
4what is man, that you think of him?
What is the son of man, that you care for him?
Compared to the vastness of creation, humankind is so small. And yet, God loved us enough to give his only Son’s life for us. Like David, the author of Psalm 8, I am filled with wonder and gratitude at the fact that God wants to have a relationship with me.
The King of the Universe wants to have a close relationship with you, because He loves you. What are you waiting for?
