Priorities
“You have to get your priorities straight!” I am sure this is a familiar phrase. Think about the last time you heard or said this. Maybe it was a mother that said this to her teen aged son who is spending all his time with his girlfriend at the expense of his school grades. Maybe it was a friend that said it to someone who is deep in debt. In each case, something was given more importance and focus than it should have had. But how often is this said today in the context that really matters – God’s Kingdom?
Jesus himself said that seeking God’s Kingdom should be our very first priority!
Matthew 6:33 (WEBBE): 33But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
If we make God’s Kingdom our first priority, then we don’t need to worry about anything else. Then we will be able to see God in the right perspective – He is so much bigger than anything that can happen to us in the world!
1 John 4:4 (WEBBE): 4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.
And with that perspective, we will be able to experience the joy and peace and hope that God wants us to have.
Romans 15:13 (WEBBE): 13Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
